First off, a HUGE thank you to everyone who's joined us recently. Watching this community grow has been incredible, and I'm excited to share what's happening in and around the creator economy this week.

Quick ask: I'd love your feedback. What sections are resonating? What do you want more (or less) of? What feels like noise? Hit reply and let me know… I read every response. And if you're finding value here, please forward this to someone who'd love getting The Creator Trove in their inbox every week! And just a reminder – I’m very passionate about keeping this newsletter free forever!

Biggest News This Week

Instagram is testing a “Your Algorithm” dashboard that shows the topics its Reels algorithm thinks you like and lets you add or remove them. This is a rare attempt to give users direct influence over recommendation models and could help creators nudge the algorithm toward their niche. Meanwhile, Threads is trialling ghost posts that auto‑archive after 24 hours and only send replies to your DMs. Both features acknowledge growing fatigue with unpredictable feeds and online pile‑ons; giving creators more control over what sticks around could encourage riskier or more candid content.

Did You Know?

Reels are exploding – Meta revealed that over 3.5 billion Reels are now shared daily, and its latest Reels update improves the recommendation system to surface 50% more new clips from creators. For creators, this means greater discovery potential, but also more competition as the feed gets flooded with fresh content.

If you don’t know what 👆 means, check Mashable’s review on Sora 2, the newest social focused AI video generator from OpenAI. We discussed this briefly in our last issue, but now that more people are using it, we finally have some insight on what it means for creators. The technical barrier to producing a high-quality video has effectively evaporated. The new challenge for creators is not "Can I make this look good?" but rather "Why should anyone care that I made it?"

Somewhat related… MrBeast weighs in on his thoughts about AI’s role in content creation. He articulates the existential anxiety that many creators are currently experiencing. If an AI can generate a thousand technically proficient videos in an hour, what is the inherent value of the single great video a human creator spent a week crafting? His warning: creators must double down on the very qualities that make them human.

Gone are the days of sending screenshots of the insights tab for creators on Instagram. Finally! Creators should begin using this tool immediately in all brand communications. It signals to potential partners that a creator is serious, data-driven, and transparent, which simplifies the evaluation process for brands. Now if only there was a way to get past those vanity metrics to tell brands who you really are as a creator… 😉

This read is from last month, but it’s super interesting. Did you know that 96% of the world’s 200 million+ creators earn less than $100k? Or that only 2% of creators have over 100,000 followers? It’s an interesting reminder to resist the temptation to chase vanity metrics. In the AI era, a small, loyal, and highly engaged community is a more valuable and defensible asset than a massive, passive audience. Being a micro-influencer should not be seen as just a stepping stone, but as a powerful and sustainable business model! 💪

Yes, seriously! Now you can use a new font inspired by K-Pop singer JENNIE. But also… 250+ sound effects for seasonal posts, custom color palettes and even a downloadable PDF media kit with account stats. This makes it easier for creators to polish clips and pitch brands without leaving the app.
