Issue 1
September 25th, 2025
Welcome to the very first issue of The Creator Trove! 💎 I'm thrilled to launch this weekly newsletter for creators who want to stay ahead of the curve without sacrificing precious time from actually creating.
As co-founder of Trovio, I'm constantly researching the creator economy landscape. For hours each week I’m looking for new platform features, emerging trends, monetization opportunities, and industry shifts that impact how creators build sustainable businesses. But I know how demanding content creation already is. Between filming, editing, publishing, and engaging with your audience, when do you have time to step back and see the bigger picture? That's exactly why I started this. Each Thursday at 1PM ET, you'll get a curated guide to the week's most important happenings, broken down into three key sections: Biggest News (the shifts that matter), Did You Know (surprising data points), and Essential Reads (deep dives worth your time, with my commentary to help you prioritize what to read).
The Creator Trove is completely free, always will be, and aligns perfectly with Trovio's mission to break down barriers and give creators the tools they need to turn content creation into successful businesses.
And real quick before we get into it – since this is issue #1, I'd love your feedback! What topics do you want to see covered? What format works best for your schedule? Hit reply and let me know. Also, if you find this valuable, please forward it to other creators in your network. Word of mouth is everything in our community, and I'd be grateful for your help in getting The Creator Trove into the hands of more creators who could benefit from it. 🙏
Biggest News This Week
The editing suite arms race is heating up. Instagram just rolled out major updates to its Edits app. It now allows creators to convert clips to overlays, add fade keyframes, and save sound-effect presets. Meanwhile, CapCut fired back with generative AI features (text-to-video, AI avatars, multilingual translations) plus direct LinkedIn integration. The message is clear even with apps: platforms want to keep creators in-house and eliminate the friction of juggling multiple apps. But is it possible to use just one or because they all offer slightly different features is it more about using whatever works and then posting across multiple platforms?
Did You Know?
All we keep hearing about is the end of TikTok in the U.S., but get this – TikTok quietly passed Meta in U.S. monthly active users: data reported by Net Influencer shows TikTok with 183 million monthly U.S. users and 102 million daily active users, surpassing Instagram and Facebook. 😮
Essential Reads
Creating content with AI has never been easier (for better or for worse), but Google is making it even easier for YouTube creators. They’ve released AI generated clips (the peacock using the ATM is probably my favorite) and backgrounds for shorts, editing tools powered by AI, and a feature we’ve all been asking for – speech to song 🤨.
While this is all super fun, could it be a play by YouTube to deepen the dependency creators have on its centralized platform?
This new Instagram feature was released a while ago, but since this is the first issue, it’s worth mentioning. There’s been a debate in the community around how useful this feature is – how valuable is it to test content on non-followers? Shouldn’t we be testing content on our current audience? What’s interesting is the growth hack that has come out of this feature where creators are re-posting their best-performing older content to reach new audiences.
Is this Instagram’s way of moving us away from short form video? 🤔 I didn’t think much of it when I saw the option to link another reel to my post the other day, but it could be seen as a way of encouraging creators to produce more substantial, story-driven content to build deeper narratives that foster community loyalty and encourage binge-watching of their content catalog.
Apparently this feature was highly requested. Is this something you’re going to use when posting on Insta?
And it provided the most compelling evidence to date of the rise of the "Creator CEO". A couple takeaways from this report I found super interesting:
Creator anxiety over platform volatility and algorithmic shifts has doubled in the past year.
Creators are reporting significant revenue growth from channels they own and control – 34% when targeting them with podcasts, 15% with digital downloads, and 9% with educational content.
Entrepreneurial Creators now earn, on average, 25% more than their Social-First counterparts.
I love this because it’s so near and dear to the mission at Trovio. This development marks a shift from "influencer marketing" to "creator partnerships." The brand provides established authority and in return, the creator brings authenticity, niche expertise, and a highly engaged, dedicated community. For creators, this model offers a powerful pathway to build credibility by enabling “storytelling and brand-aligned collaborations to flourish across Future’s portfolio."
This looks interesting! Brooke Erin Duffy will be presenting on the term “Visibility Blind” – a term that looks into the challenges faced by creators trapped between the constant risk of algorithmic invisibility (by failing to keep up with content production) and hypervisibility (burnout, public scrutiny, and targeted harassment). She will be speaking about how acknowledging this is the first step to for creators to build more sustainable and resilient careers.
Not sure if this one will be recorded or streamed, but I sent Brooke a note and will update with any details in a future issue.
This one is more fun than anything. I think? Shots encourage behind‑the‑scenes images that vanish after viewing, pushing creators to share candid moments without stressing about aesthetics.
